The Turlock Chamber of Commerce major objective is being Turlock’s number one business resource. Citizens look to the Chamber for the area’s economic well-being.  That is why we seek to have a major impact on business, the creation of wealth, and future growth of the Greater Turlock Area. The Chamber has taken an active role in ensuring that growth and economic stability continues in a positive manner, and that Turlock is a desirable and contemporary community in which to raise one’s family. This goal is continually being realized through teamwork with community leaders, through the support of area businesses, and through the hard work of volunteers. Our committees, activities and programs create a unique environment that foster both networking and community involvement. The Chamber has several committees engaged in a diverse range of issues including education, economic development, business resources, governmental affairs, and special activities, as well as other areas of interest.  As the voice of business in Turlock, the Chamber’s goal is to advocate for our members’ best interests and for those of our community. With over 500 members, the Chamber represents both small and large businesses, retailers, professionals, educators, service providers, governmental entities, manufacturers, non-profit organizations and individuals. The diversity of our membership is reflected in the broad range of initiatives the Chamber takes on each year. As the voice of business in our community, the Chamber’s goal is to advocate for the best interests of our members and for what is best for our entire business community. The Chambers Board of Directors and staff understand that we are in a time of transition and economic upheaval, but we feel that if we work together we will develop energy to reach success.  It is important to hear from each of our members on what the chamber can do to assist each of you to meet your needs. Sincerely,Sharon Silva

Q:  What can the Chamber of Commerce do to lower taxes and regulations for local businesses? There is a lot of red tape and way to many fees and taxes. Thank you for your time I appreciate it!
A: 

The Chamber can be an advocate for local businesses before the City, County & State governments.  Chambers should be the watch dogs for business by interfacing with their local government representatives and  State legislators.  Chambers should be involved in legislative changes that can impact all businesses.  They can also interact with state and local jurisdictions on behalf of a specific business which has an issue on specific regulations.  This is why the  Chamber of Commerce’s needs to be politically involved.  We need to work with government at all levels, and help business navigate through the myriad of challenges put before it.

Q:  Is it unethical and/or illegal for an employee or public official to pocket money intended for hotel expenses
A: 

There is no yes or no answer to this question.  Each organization or business has their own policy on how travel is paid.  Some organizations only pay X amount of $ depending on the circumstances of the travel, others give a stipend and it is up to the employee to make the arrangements.  Some companies do reimbursement when receipts are turned in and other pay up front with credit cards.  

The true answer is that it is up to each organization or Business whether public or private to set the policy.
